Our Leaders

Our Pastors

Pastor John Hardy is the founding Pastor of Covenant Family Worship Center (CFWC), a spirit-led, multi-cultural church based out of Stafford, VA.

Pastor Hardy formed Covenant Family Ministries in 1999 after hearing the call of God to head a multi-cultural church known for the teaching of the Word of God and Praise & Worship.

With the blessing of his Pastor, Joshua Shonubi; the congregation of Action Chapel International; and his family, Pastor Hardy and family held their first service as Covenant Family Worship Center in February of 1999. Since then, CFWC has flourished in the Stafford/Fredericksburg VA area.

Under the leadership of Pastor Hardy, the CFWC congregation has witnessed the soul-saving, physical-healing, deliverance-power of God all while serving out of temporary facilities through the completion of its newly constructed church and office facilities in the Summer of 2009.

While some may view Pastor Hardy’s youthful appearance and recent successes as being “overnight”, this couldn’t be further from the truth for this Virginia Beach native.

Pastor Hardy began his service in ministry over 20 years ago while simultaneously working for the DC Fire Department for over 23 years. His early ministry training began in Washington DC, where he lived prior to retirement. While there, he was prepared for his journey at Jericho Christian Training Center College and School of Ministry (formerly Jericho Baptist Church), where he graduated in June of 1986. He went on to serve faithfully at Jericho for 10 years under the leadership of the Late Bishop, James R. Peebles and Apostle Betty Peebles.

From there, Pastor Hardy served at Beacon Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Sterling, Virginia, where, in addition to being licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel on July 1, 1990, he also served as Assistant Pastor for 8 years and as Pastor for 1 year.

God then lead him to assist Pastor Joshua Shonubi of New Life Chapel (formerly Action Chapel International), where he served as Assistant Pastor for over 3 years.

Since then, Pastor Hardy has continuously sought after God through various teaching and training opportunities while earning several degrees and diplomas including a Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Tabernacle Bible College and Seminary and licenses to minister in both DC and Virginia.

Throughout the years Pastor Hardy has maintained that families should minister and worship together, which is the basis for the name and thrust of Covenant Family Worship Center. In this regard, Pastor John Hardy has been a leader by example, having successfully served in ministry with his wife of 38 years, Leatha Hardy, and their three adult children.

Pastor Hardy is also looking forward to imparting this divine principal to his grandson and to others through his sermons as the Lord gives him opportunities to minister.
